Need a Used Rally Car? KG Motorsports Has You Covered

Nestled in the northern part of Ireland, KG Motorsports is not your typical car dealer. Specializing in pre-owned WRC rally cars, this small but mighty dealership is making waves by bringing the thrill of rally racing to the masses. As the holiday season fades and the post-Christmas money starts to burn a hole in your pocket, KG Motorsport is the perfect way to live out your childhood dreams.

KG Motorsports is a small family business based in an unassuming building off of an even more unassuming country road. The small operation is making big waves as their stock is not road cars with tribute liveries to look like rally cars. These are fully cagged, anti-lag blasting, rip-roaring rally cars. Some of them are brand-new while some are reconditioned classics you undoubtedly have driven in video games. The juxtaposition of these insane rally beasts against the backdrop of what appears to be a plain metal building is mind-boggling. What a dream it would be to operate a car dealer selling only rally cars. Their inventory is even more astonishing. Currently on their books is a Tommy Makinen Evo 6, multiple Skoda R5s, an ex-Richard Burns WRC Impreza, and an old-school Toyota Corolla in Castrol livery. If money was no option, I still wouldn’t know which one to choose.

What surprised me most in my research was that the majority of rally cars are actually street-legal. For them to travel between rally stages without needing transport, the cars are required to be street-legal. This makes them able to be purchased by anyone anywhere as long as you can afford it. I love the idea of using a rally car as a daily driver, but having one in the garage would be cool enough on its own. Having said that, every car listed on their site has no price with the “call from pricing” play in place. I’m not saying they are overpriced, but I know if it doesn’t have a price, I certainly can’t afford one. I’ll need quite a few more subscribers before we order a rally car for The Late Brake.

The best thing about KG Motorsports is that they aren’t just about acquiring and selling ex-rally cars; they are about giving access to the world of rally heritage. These cars have stories to tell, and now, they’re ready to create new tales with their new owners. Many of these are either rebuilt cars or cars built from extra chassis. To me, even better than putting a broken car back on the road, is putting one on the road that was never meant to be built. When rally teams order cars, often they get multiple chassis’ in case of a crash. At the end of a season, lots of times regulations change and certain chassis’ are no longer valid to use. KG Motorsports buys these extra leftover chassis’ and builds from scratch identical ones to sell. Instead of getting chucked in the trash, they become rally cars. How cool is that?

KG Motorsports is much more than a dealership; they are a curator of dreams. Most of their customers are probably average people looking for the experience of being a rally driver. Becoming a real really driver is not an easy task, so providing a platform for enthusiasts to live out their rally dreams is important. As we transition to electric and autonomous cars, having safe havens like KG Motorsports to protect car culture is crucial. Car culture can’t survive any other way. So to all of the pioneers protecting car culture across the globe, The Late Brake salutes you for fighting the good fight. Let’s hope these rally cars are still legal by the time I can finally afford one.

Motorsports Renaissance: Why Racing Culture Is Hot Again (and Here to Stay)

A decade ago, trying to explain your love for motorsports often came with an eye roll or questioning one’s sanity. People still thought racing was just cars going in circles or that Formula 1 was a niche European quirk, if they even knew what it was. But somewhere in the high-stakes world of million-dollar decisions and split-second failures, where team principals wage psychological warfare in the paddock while drivers risk everything at 200 mph, something…

Hikari Rennwerke’s K24-Swapped 911 is Redefining What it Means to Build Dreams

There’s a special kind of madness that strikes car builders when they stare at their project long enough. It starts innocently: maybe a simple engine refresh, perhaps some suspension work, definitely “just a few bolt-ons.” But somewhere between researching parts and scrolling through build threads at 2 AM, the voices in your head start whispering dangerous things. What if we went bigger? What if we went different? What if we threw the rulebook out the…

Rise and Shine: Race Service’s Friday Morning Gathering

There’s something magical about a Friday morning. Not the alarm clock going off before the sun is up part, but that moment when you pull up to a warehouse in Los Angeles, the smell of espresso hits you before you even open the car door, and you realize you’re surrounded by people who value good coffee and even better cars. Welcome to Rise and Shine at Race Service, where “elevated car culture” isn’t just a…
